About

Aden Bowman and Bedford Road collegiates are International Baccalaureate (IB) World Schools that share a common philosophy: a commitment to high quality, challenging education that "empowers young people for a lifetime of learning, independently and in collaboration with others. It prepares a community of learners to engage with global challenges through inquiry, action and reflection."

As IB World Schools, both collegiates offer the IB Diploma Programme, which is designed for students ages 16 to 19 in grades 11 and 12 who are academically motivated and desire a rigorous curriculum, often as preparation for post-secondary study. Students who complete an IB diploma also achieve a Saskatchewan high school diploma. Graduates of the IB Diploma Programme gain an enhanced set or organizational, reading, writing, representing, lab reporting, speaking and collaborative skills.

Founded in 1968, the International Baccalaureate Organization (IBO) is a non-profit, mission-driven foundation that works with more than 5,000 schools to develop and offer three challenging programs (primary, middle years and diploma) in more than 150 countries to approximately 1.95 million students. The IBO aims to develop inquiring, knowledgeable and caring young people who help create a better and more peaceful world through intercultural understanding and respect. 

Beford Road Collegiate was the first school in Saskatoon to be designated an IB World School in 2010. Aden Bowman received the designation in 2015.

Admission

Students in grades 9 and 10 who are academically motivated, are seeking a challenge and have a well-rounded approach to their studies are encouraged to contact the collegiate of their choice for a registration package. 

It is important to be aware of the suggested course prerequisites. Both schools offer programming in grades 9 and 10 that serve as preparation for the program, which begins in Grade 11. These are suggested but not required.

Prior to accepting a student, the admissions committee conducts a review of the student's academic history and transcripts to ensure they have the required prerequisites for admission. If necessary, an informal interview will take place to ensure this is the appropriate educational path for the student. 

Fees

Beginning in the 2025-26 school year, diploma students entering the full IB Diploma Programme will be charged a fee of $2,200. Course students will be charged an individual IB course fee of $350 per course. With the exception of IB chemistry (Bedford Road Collegiate) and IB physics (Aden Bowman Collegiate), all IB diploma courses are completed over two years.
